It’s not often that a company gives away their secrets when it comes to marketing strategy. However, we just launched our updated website and rather than simply telling you to check it out and telling you why it’s great (and believe me, it is!), I’m going to tell you exactly what’s different and why we chose to do it.
The most significant changes are on our homepage:
Goodbye flash – The row of five boxes was a flash animation. Clicking on each box would enlarge a full image and then link to the appropriate portfolio. However, through analytics tracking, we saw that nobody entered the internal pages of our site through this functionality. That was a lot of space being taken up by a function with very little utility. Additionally, with iPads and iPhones not recognizing flash, we wanted to use a comparable .html5 component so that it could be seen by all devices. And best of all, all of the copy is indexible text!
A Full Spectrum of Services – we had this list on our site already, but again, visitors weren’t navigating the site via this list. Our expectation is that this new design will make each item more obvious that it’s a button to be clicked and not just a list to be read, as it appeared previously. The goal is to lead visitors to the internal pages of the site. There are also more items in the list, which will help our search engine optimization ranking.
Social Media feed – We added our social media RSS feed to help boost our SEO and to draw additional traffic to our social media pages.
Our header – We added a link that goes directly to our portfolio which we did have on previous site but wasn’t being navigated as often as we’d like. We also changed the style to useĀ a more modern look. The button style is sooooo yesterday!
Did You Know – This is a completely new feature on our website. We offer a lot of services that our clients may not be aware of. Each time the homepage is refreshed, this copy changes (along with the page it directs to). Maybe the user will learn something new about us!
Our internal pages got a bit of a refresh as well. The sidebar navigation’s appearance now resembles our new homepage look, and we also revamped a lot of the descriptions of our various services, adding more information and integrating more SEO tactics. We think this will bring more value to us and our potential clients.
I hope you like our new site! I’d love to hear your comments. And if you think any of what we did could be appropriate for your website, let me know! Mention this blog post and I’ll give you a FREE EVALUATION of your current website. You’ve earned it since you actually read my entire post!
