The United States is ranked the second-to-worst country in the world (only after Brazil) in taking care of our planet.
Only about one-tenth of all solid garbage in the United States gets recycled.
Ninety-five percent of our solid waste is disposed of in almost-filled landfills - and one out of every two of those landfills desperately needs repair to aviod further pollution.
As your marketing, design, digital media, and printing company, The Homer Group wants you to know that we are making all possible efforts to remain environmentally conscious and sustainable. We are taking the following steps to do our part:
• In terms of printing, we start by using the digital-to-plate process when creating our printing plates for offset printing. This efficient way of producing the plates is a totally water-soluble process.
• We have been using paper from recycled content and from Forest Stewardship Council certified distributors for many years. The quality of these papers is comparable to the non-recycled papers in both price and printing results - - the environment takes less of a hit at no extra cost.
• The truth is, there will always be some level of waste associated with printing. To reduce wastage, we carefully plan our printing projects to take full advantage of the paper sheet size, and all excess paper scraps always get recycled.
• As a complimentary service, we will pick up any outdated printed materials that have updated versions to ensure they are properly added to our recycling program. We want to make sure old paper isn’t going to landfills or trash-to-steam plants.
• We are always mindful of “the little things” that can add up quickly. For example, electrical equipment is shut down at the end of the day, hand towels are used in the employee kitchens rather than paper towels, and we go out of our way to recycle equipment, batteries, glass, and aluminum that our township doesn’t regularly pick up.
We hope this information gives you a good sense of how The Homer Group is doing everything we can to preserve the environment. For your next project, think about us not only as your conscientious business partner, but also your neighbor helping keep our environment clean and safe for future generations to enjoy.
